can be up to 1640 feet away from the 848. Up to 28 wireless phones can be "registered" with
the KX-TAW848 system, but only eight wireless phones can be in use in the system at one
time.system at one time.

The KX-TAW848 works with two new 2.4GHz
wireless phones: KX-TD7690 and KX-TD7680.
Both have speakerphones and hands-free
intercom, but can't receive voice paging
announcements.
The premium “executive” model KX-TD7690 is a
sleek and extremely lightweight unit styled like a
cellphone, that can easily fit into a shirt pocket.
It has a 5-line backlit LCD display, a navigation
key for line selection and feature access, and is
equipped with a convenient 2.5mm headset
jack. It has a long-life lithium ion battery pack,
and can be used with an optional belt holster.
The lower cost standard wireless handset, the
KX-TD7680, is slightly larger (more like a
“pocketable” home cordless phone) and it
features a 3-line backlit LCD display, navigation
key, line selection and feature keys and a 2.5
mm headset jack. It has a NiMH battery pack,
and comes with a belt clip.

Up to four KX-T0141 "cell stations" can be used for expanded coverage. Each cell station
can be up to 1640 feet away from the KX-TAW848 control unit, and connects with one
pair of wires. No electrical power is needed at the cell stations.
Up to 28 wireless phones can be "registered" with the KX-TAW848 system, but only eight
wireless phones can be in use in the system at one time.
As you move throughout the coverage area, your phone's signal is handed off from one
cell station to another without any call interruption. One cell station can support two
simultaneous calls.
Wireless handsets can be registered on more than one KX-TAW848 system -- you can
use your home handset on your office system.

The KX-T0141 antenna modules ("mini
cells) used with KX-TD7680 and 7690
wireless phones connect to KX-TAW84870
(4 ports) or KX-TAW84875 (4 ports) or KX-
TAW84876 (8 ports) or the 4-port module
permanently installed inside your KX-
TAW848 control unit.
Up to 28 handsets can be registered for
use with the KX-TAW848; but only two can
be in use with each antenna at one time.
- Maximum distance from the phone
system control unit to an antenna
module is 1138 feet with 24 gage
wire, and 1640 feet with 22 gage.
- You should be able to use a
handset up to 500-600 feet from an
antenna module. Range depends
on environmental conditions
Programming Note. Assigning KX-TD7680 and 7690 cordless phone extension number directly into an ICD GROUP
often causes ringing failure. These phones communicate with the phone system through cell stations, and therefore the
communication path from the cordless phones to the 848 is limited by the number of cell stations. The cordless phones ringing
issue often appears when the number of cordless phones far exceeds the number of cell stations. The proper way to program
cordless phones to ring is to first assign cordless phones into a PS ring group (groups --- PS ring group), then assign the PS ring
group floating extension number into an ICD group and finally assign this ICD group number as CO line destination.
Other cordless options.
In addition to the KX-TD6780 and 90, you can also
use the Panasonic KX-TD7896. The KX-TD7896 is
a full-featured multi-line cordless designed for
Panasonic phone systems, but doesn't work with
the mini-cell antennas. It's available in pearl white
or charcoal.

Caller ID, line status, and function of flexible keys.

power, but no phone jack. Message waiting
indicator. Silent vibrator alert, or programmable
ringer. 9 melodies. 6 ring tones. 7 vibrator

DISTANCE TEST RESULTS: In a typical suburban
environment, we had perfect communications to
about 500 feet from the base, and usable
communications (some ticking noise) to about 550
feet. The transmitting base was located on the
second floor of a wood-frame house, and the
signal passed through one exterior wall with vinyl
siding, about 30 feet from the base. Indoors, we
were able to go two floors down, and about 60 feet
horizontally. Weather conditions: sunny, 45
degrees F., 50% humidity, 10 MPH wind.

Single-line cordless phones, such as
the long-range EnGenius DuraFon
can also be used. It's a heavy-duty
phone, with longer range than any
other phone that can be legally sold in
the US.

Each mini-cell antenna can handle two wireless
phone calls at one time, and you can keep talking as
you move from cell to cell.
